Super cheap or even free date ideas
73
As many of you guys or gals out there that are hopeless romantics, yet, don't have the budget to actually take that special someone somewhere really nice. Here are a few charming ideas that are cheap or even free to do on your next date night.
Picnic
Picnics are so romantic, and they create an intimate atmosphere. It also gives a sense of privacy even if its in a crowded park, you don't have to worry about the people at the table next to you listening in on your personal conversation. All you really need is a cozy blanket, a lantern for a evening meal, simple foods that you get from a local grocery store or farmers market, a bottle of non-alcohol beverage (don't want a DUI) and your set.
Backyard Wonderland
Take out those old Christmas tree lights and put them to good use during the warmer months. This idea will definitely leave your date in awe. String your lights across the ceiling of a porch, fire escape, tree, fence, anywhere you plan on eating. The more lights you have, the more creative it looks, you get the picture. Make sure that the place is clean, there's nothing more distracting than clutter, toys lying around, or grim or dirt where it shouldn't be. Set a small table with plates, silverware, etc. Light some candles and have some soft music playing in the background. Get dressed up, it makes it more special.
Homemade Tent
I always thought that this would be romantic to do on a rainy or snowy evening, when you don't really want to venture out into the weather. Gather all the blankets and sheets around the house and together build a cozy tent, with pillows and blankets inside for cuddling on. Bring in some popcorn, candy, some drinks, etc. (more complicated the food, the harder to keep the your fort clean). Bring with you some pictures, videos, notes, and letters from the times you've been together. Watching and reading will make the mood and also spark some thoughtful conversations.
Social Adventure
Ever watch the movie Ferris Bueler's Day Off? I recommend it, it's a classic. In the movie the character Ferris and his friends take a day off from school and have a day of exploring the city. Now that is a perfect date. Explore your own city or town, or even the next one over if you have to. Take a day and visit museums, the capitol building, landmarks, you will learn a lot. Eat at a place you've never been. You would be surprised with how many places where admissions are free. If not, then ask someone working there if you could get a discount, nothing to lose by asking. Its exciting to experience the local culture together.
There is so much to do that doesnt cost a lot and only requires a little creativity. And its a nice break from mundane predictable dates.
